Severe Macaw Training Update After 6 Months. I adopted my 5 year old parrot six months ago and have been very patient. She too has been very patient with me as well. As I was editing this video I see why the training is failing. It is me. I see that I am giving her the treat even when she doesn't perform, I show her the treat the entire time she is preforming, I let her go past my wrist onto my shoulder when I know I cannot get her off on command, and I am wearing jewelry that looks and sounds like her toys. The other issue which I have no control over is that she is starting to be hormonal again. She was hormonal when I adopted her in the fall and now the spring is starting, sigh. I
