What are some of the noisiest parrots you could have as pets? If you live in an apartment or can't stand a very noisy pet, these are the first to avoid.
Quaker Parrots and Sun Conures tend to be quite noisy little birds. Macaws are very loud. But Cockatoos tend to be both noisy and loud! Especially Umbrella Cockatoo, Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, and Moluccan Cockatoo. They are capable of producing noise up to 135db.
Prolonged exposure to sound over 70db can lead to hearing loss in humans and acute hearing loss when over 120db. Read about why the parrot can scream so loud and only cause hearing loss to you and not to itself: http://TrainedParrot.com/Parrot_Hearing
So, if you have the space and means to handle such a noisy parrot, go for it. But, if you live in an apartment, with close neighbors, or just anyone in the household that can't stand so much noise, you'll definitely want to avoid the noisier parrots and possibly parrots all together.
