Is your parrot a boy or a girl? This is an easy tutorial on how to DNA sex a parrot from feather samples. DNA sexing a parrot is easy, reliable and cheap these days. If you're wondering how much does it cost to DNA sex a parrot, the answer is: in the UK it costs only £14. And it only takes a few days to get the results!

A bird gender test based on a small feather sample is the easiest way to tell if your bird (especially a parrot) is a male or a female. This is the only reliable way to sex a parrot, because most parrot species are monomorphic (i.e. there is no visual difference between male and female). Even if a breeder tells you an African Grey, Senegal Parrot, Amazon, Macaw, etc. is a male or a female, based on her/his "experience" she/he is just guessing.
