Quaker Parrot Learns to Step Up From Cage > 퀘이커

Now my Quaker Parrot has gotten so good at stepping up on my hand from a training perch, I am ready to take this one further and have him step up on my hand from his cage. Up until now I've been using a handheld perch for him to come out of the cage to help him feel safe and so I don't get bit.

Since we had great practice and established trust stepping up from a distraction-free training perch, I feel confident having the Quaker Parrot step up straight out of his cage. I use my clicker and target stick to direct him onto my hand. He does great and does not bite!

We practice some more step ups without a target stick out of the cage on his training perch. We also practice stepping in and out of the cage as a deliberate exercise so that he would be really good at that since this is such an essential skill.
